Geothermal resources have been identified in north and south Lander County. Hot heat (>100¼C) and warm water heat flow wells are in the immediate vicinity of the Battle Mountain Airport, Union Pacific Railroad line and Interstate 80.
Other geothermal opportunities are located in Buffalo Valley, Grass Valley, Smith Creek and the Reese River Valley. Beowawe, an existing geothermal plant operates on the Lander/Euerka county border.
