Future Industrial Needs Development Project

The Dakota Project

The Dakota ProjectThe Lander County Economic Development Authority is pleased to announce that it has met with and is currently in full support of the Dakota Project, a renewable energy-focused industrial park (wind/solar/geothermal) that offers inter-modal transportation access, including air.

The LEDA Board met on April 1, 2009 and voted to pledge full support and all of its available resources to make this project a reality.

For Lander County, Nevada, it offers a new, sustainable (green) employment center that is shovel-ready for federal stimulus funds and state incentive support. Once the land is packaged, purchased and re-zoned it offers 12,000 available acres adjacent to and encompassing the Battle Mountain Airport, Interstate 80 and Union Pacific Railroad.

The Dakota Project is also a sustainable, non-mining project that fulfils LEDA's goal to diversify the local economy.

Lander County and Dakota Project Developer Liberty Tree Enterprises are working together in a public-private partnership to develop the county infrastructure necessary to attract and supportÊa renewable energy development that would include the following features:

  • A warehouse distribution center
  • Intermodal Cargo Hub
  • A secure sustainable power grid; energy for the park and the community
  • Renewable energy R&D Center
  • A mix of hotels, dining, retail and educational facilities

Liberty Tree is in advanced discussions with several companies that have expressed an interest in locating in the industrial park.

The Lander County Economic Development Authority is working with Liberty Tree Enterprises in securing any necessary loans and grants, as well as seeking state any federal stimulus money for the project. LEDA is also working with the Lander County Board of Commissioners to create local development and marketing packages including local incentives for prospective tenants.
